Every couple wants to make their own wedding unique and memorable. Adding old time traditions to your wedding would do just that. Maybe you could consider the following.

Go for an ancient Rome theme. In ancient Rome it is said that that wedding guests would throw a wheat or barley cake at the bride in order to further her fertile success. This tradition slightly mellowed with time to just simply breaking the cake over her head if that is more your speed. The guest can then collect crumbs from the cake to increase their own luck with fertility and future marital success. Some could even consider placing a piece of you cake under their pillow to dream of their future spouse.

An early European theme would be fun. Don’t order your own cake, just ask all of your guests to bring a “sweet bun” to stack. This will create a multi tiered cake that you and your mate can kiss over for marital luck and it also lets you see how popular you really are. The more sweet buns there are, the more family and friends support your cake reflects.
